3 former Chicago Bears superstars eliminated from NFL Playoffs
Roquan Smith was a great Chicago Bears draft pick before being traded away.
Of all three players on this list, Roquan Smith is the only player that was drafted and developed by the Chicago Bears. He was the only good first-round pick (we still don’t know for sure about Justin Fields) that Ryan Pace made in his tenure as Chicago Bears general manager.
Smith was an absolute beast at his position with the Bears but they didn’t want to pay him what he is worth. To be honest, it is hard to pay linebackers as some of the highest-paid players on the team these days because of how the position has become less and less important compared to others.
During the season, the Chicago Bears made the decision to trade him to the Baltimore Ravens where he would have a chance to compete for the postseason once again. This also made the Chicago Bears a much worse team which is exactly what they wanted from it.
Smith and Ravens went up against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday and came up just short. They didn’t have Lamar Jackson under center but did really well with Tyler Huntley in there. It is just unfortunate for them that the Bengals made one extra play which earned them the win.
It is tough to see these guys all be knocked out in round one. They aren’t Chicago Bears anymore but they were at one point and they were really good. It is fair to wish them the best moving forward.
