Akiem Hicks was one of the most important Chicago Bears of the decade.

Khalil Mack was the best player on the Chicago Bears for a long time based on talent and production. However, there is a good argument to be made that Akiem Hicks was the most important player to the Chicago Bears during his tenure.

With Hicks on the team, they were able to get the most out of Mack. As a result of their greatness, the defense was able to thrive with both of them there. For a little bit, they were the best defense in the NFL and these two were the biggest reason for that.

Well, letting Hicks go was a big part of the rebuild. Of course, the defense is going to get much worse when you remove these two from the equation. He moved on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he got to be teammates with Tom Brady and some other great studs.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as well as hoped for the Buccaneers this year. They made the playoffs as division champions at 8-9 because of the fact that the NFC South was terrible. With that, they were smoked by the Dallas Cowboys in their first playoff game. Hicks is now eliminated from postseason contention.
