Chicago Bears: 5 free agents to pursue from Wildcard losers

Free agents for the Chicago Bears to pursue from Wildcard losers: Jeff Wilson, RB
The running back position will be one to watch this spring, for the Bears, who could end up saying goodbye to fan favorite David Montgomery. The likely scenario is that we see Khalil Herbert take over the no. 1 job, with another back sprinkled in here and there.
Herbert proved he could handle the gig when he took over for Montgomery during injury, and the Bears should certainly allow him the chance to earn it. If they decide to part with Montgomery, though, they’ll need another back to help ease the pressure.
Jeff Wilson Jr. is as underrated a back as they come, so long as he’s healthy. The 27-year-old comes with experience in a similar system, having played for Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel, so he understands how the Bears want to operate offensively.
Wilson is a similar back to Herbert with the ability to get to the next level once he’s through the hole, and he can hit another gear in a hurry. Over his five years in the NFL, Wilson has rushed for 2,125 yards and averaged a healthy 4.5 yards per carry.
