WR. Chicago Bears. Chase Claypool. 10. player. 57.

The Chicago Bears should try to get something out of Chase Claypool.

The Chicago Bears were expecting more out of Chase Claypool in 2023 when they acquired him in a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Notre Dame standout was awesome to start his career but he hasn’t exactly had an amazing quarterback throwing to him for most of it.

Justin Fields might develop into a good passer but that can’t be said for sure right now. With that, a player like Claypool might not be worth it for the Bears. If they feel like it was a mistake to acquire him in a trade in the first place, they should move on now before he struggles in 2023.

They can pair Claypool with the first overall pick to improve the return that they get for him. A team could be getting the first overall pick in the draft to select a quarterback while getting a receiver for him to throw to in the process. That might not be a terrible idea for the acquiring team.

Even if Claypool becomes a pretty good player, he probably isn’t going to be a one or a two which is what the Bears need to help develop Justin Fields right now. If he stays, we can hope that both Fields and Claypool figure out some chemistry but trading the WR should be on the table.
