The middle portion of the fan base believes Justin Fields can be the franchise quarterback but still has work to do.

This is the group that realizes Justin Fields is an amazing talent, but he can still get better. I will also admit this is the area I try to camp out in.

They see a quarterback who can make things happen with his legs but has some room to grow in the passing game. Also, this group thinks that is okay for now.

You do not have to move on from Fields because he is not a finished product after just two seasons–one of which he played under Matt Nagy. At the same time, you also cannot make a bust for him Canton just yet.

Fields has shown he can run up and down with the best of them. In the Buffalo game, the Bills showed if you can box him in, he cannot hurt you with his legs.

Justin has already shown he can be the unquestioned leader of the team. He has not shied away from the challenge of being the man who finally breaks a 73-year curse at quarterback.

Fields does need to refine some parts of his game and that is why this offseason will be critical for him. He has never shied away from working to get better. Poles wants to see improvement from his franchise quarterback.

Holding on to the ball too long can be fixed with better play calling by Luke Getsy and a better internal clock from Fields. Fields can also work on being less methodical in his reads and be more willing to throw the ball away when a play is not there.

Protecting the ball can also be fixed.

Fields has shown he can scan the field. He just needs a better offensive line to give him more opportunities to be more consistent.

Fields needs better receivers to run better routes so he can throw more anticipation passes. Fields does need to get better at hitting his check-down receivers. He showed in the Buffalo game that he can go to his “layup” passes but a lack of talent meant the offense could do much after that.

Fields is a special talent and he showed enough this season that he is worth building a team around. Having better talent around Fields will help him realize his immense potential.

This group also understands that the talent around Fields was not very good.  It also did not excuse Fields from having some bad games.

He showed enough growth to be trusted that he should have talent put around him to take another positive step in his game.

The Chicago Bears finally have a talented quarterback who is showing he can become special. He does not have the sloppy footwork like Grossman. Fields is not immature like McNown. He is mentally stronger than Mitchell Trubisky.

All the past failures at quarterback and certain biases have created different viewpoints when it comes to Fields. Justin can continue to change the narrative on him by continuing to get better even though he is already pretty good.
