With pick no. 133 in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Pittsburgh linebacker SirVocea Dennis

At the top of the fifth round, the Bears find another player to add to their defensive front. This time, Poles adds a linebacker to the fold.

Jack Sanborn should be a locked-and-loaded starter going into the 2023 campaign, but other than the former Badger, the other two positions could be up for grabs. Someone like Pittsburgh’s SirVocea Dennis could come in and be a Day 1 starter, even as a fifth-round pick.

The one thing Dennis doesn’t lack is a motor. He finds himself in the back field more often than not, and also doesn’t shy away from coverage — although he could use a little work on the latter. As a run-stopper, though, and someone who can occasionally rush the passer, Dennis is a valuable asset.

He had the best year of his college career in 2022, finishing with 94 tackles, 12.0 for a loss, 7.0 sacks, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and an interception.

With pick no. 197 in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Arkansas wide receiver Jadon Haselwood

As their final selection, Jadon Haselwood comes as a low-risk play here for the Bears. But, his size and skill set have a high ceiling. Haselwood is a bigger frame with the ability to make contested catches — something that will come in handy when catching passes from Justin Fields, who likes to let it fly.

Something Matt Eberflus will love about Haselwood is that he’s an unselfish player and flourishes in the blocking game. Haselwood can throw a block with the best of them, which again will come into play when on the field with a quarterback like Fields, who loves to take off and run.

This past season at Arkansas, Haselwood caught 59 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns.
