What we want to see from Justin Fields in final two games: Fields breaks the QB rushing record

What we all thought would happen last week against Buffalo failed to take place. Fields totaled just 11 rushing yards against the Bills, in a shockingly odd performance from the dynamic quarterback.

To Buffalo’s credit, they did a great job containing Fields. They were ready. Their game plan was to ensure they had guys off the edge ready to cover the outside if he were to break loose. Occasionally, Fields has gotten free up the middle due to broken plays, too. But, that didn’t even happen against the Bills.

Lamar Jackson’s current record-holding season saw him go for 1,206 yards on the ground. Fields stands at 1,011, giving him an uphill battle to break that record over the final two weeks. If he is to succeed in passing Jackson, he’ll need to average 98 yards per game on the ground.

It’s safe to say that we would love to see one of those explosions we saw earlier in the year, where Fields went for over 140 yards a couple of times. If he’s able to do that this weekend against Detroit, then it will give him a much more likely shot at breaking the record in Week 18 against Minnesota.
