The Chicago Bears just came off a week 15 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. They stayed in it with one of the best teams in the NFL but ended up losing by a final score of 25-20. There aren’t good losses in the NFL but this horrible Bears team made a Super Bowl contender earn it.

One positive from the game came from their quarterback. Justin Fields has been the big story for the Chicago Bears this season as he has had a really good year. This breakout year of his showed everyone that he is going to be their quarterback for a long time.

In this loss to Philly, he became the third quarterback in NFL history (Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick) to reach 1000 rushing yards. It is a great accomplishment for him as he is clearly a game-breaker now with his legs. As his passing game continues to improve, he will be an elite player.

There is a little bit more business to take care of here though. He can break Lamar Jackson’s single-season rushing record for a quarterback over the next couple of weeks if he plays well.

Fields currently has exactly 1000 yards on the season so he needs 206 more in order to break Lamar’s record. He will try to do so against the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings to end the season.

He needs to average 68.6 yards in those three games in order to break that record. He is averaging 76.9 rushing yards per game so far this season so he has a great chance to do it.

The Chicago Bears have a lot to watch for as this 2022 season winds down.

NFC North:

The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings won their games over the weekend. The Vikings will go to the playoffs and have a home game as the NFC North champions. The Lions are 7-7 with a chance to squeak into the playoffs but it is going to be tough.

The Green Bay Packers just had a huge win on Monday Night Football over the Los Angeles Rams and now sit at 6-8. They have a chance to make it as well mathematically but it is a very outside chance. They need to win out (would be five straight) and get plenty of help from others.

This division is turning around a little bit. The Bears are bad but Justin Fields is coming. With that, the Detroit Lions are building something really nice too, and might get a chance at their future quarterback with the Rams draft pick from the Matthew Stafford trade.

Around the NFL:

The NFL is a very fun place right now. There are a lot of amazing stories. The aforementioned Minnesota Vikings came up with the biggest comeback win in NFL history on Saturday. It was a cool moment for them as they appear ready to try and make a run in the playoffs.

In the game against the Chicago Bears, Jalen Hurts hurt himself and that might cost him a game. The MVP-frontrunner is having an amazing year for the Philadelphia Eagles. His status for next weekend is the big story this week.

The playoff races are heating up in both the NFC and AFC so this Christmas weekend slate of games is going to be incredibly entertaining.
