The Chicago Blackhawks might be smart to try and get picks for Patrick Kane.

The Chicago Blackhawks went into the 2022 NHL Draft with no first-round picks. They were left in a really bad spot by Stan Bowman who kept trying to patch up the team that had success ten years prior. When Kyle Davidson took over, it was clear that things were going to change.

They ended up having three picks in the first round of that draft after having zero going in. Now, they want to keep building through the draft which is most definitely the right thing for them to do at this point. Building your team the right way is hard but it can be so worth it.

Davidson already has two picks in the first round of the 2023 Draft (as long as the Tampa Bay Lightning don’t finish in the bottom ten which they won’t). There are going to be a couple of opportunities for him to add more and the usage of Patrick Kane could be one of them.

Trading a first and a fourth for Patrick Kane might be smart for the Red Wings if they think that he can help them get into the playoffs.

You will never know unless you try and there is something to be said about a team that tries when they can. As for the Hawks, this would be a great haul for a star player on a lucrative but expiring contract.
