The White Sox would have to pay up for Andrew Benintendi’s effective bat.

Brandon Nimmo is a free agent Sox fans would love to have. Do not expect the White Sox to hand him the largest free-agent contract in franchise history.

Andrew Benintendi is a free-agent outfielder who will cost the Sox some cash to sign but not in range Nimmo will get to sign.

Benintendi is not going to hit a lot of home runs. He had five home runs last season and has belted 73 during his seven-year career.

He can hit and get on base. Benintendi hit .304 with a .373 on-base percentage last year between the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees. He also made the All-Star team.

Benintendi had a 122 wRC+ and was a 2.8 wins above replacement (WAR) player.

He is not the strongest defender but he can play the outfield way better than Vaughn or Jimenez.

Benintendi will not come cheap. He is projected to sign a four-year deal for around $54 million. The White Sox would have to outbid the Houston Astros and the New York Mets.

The New York Yankees would not mind bringing him back. The Chicago White Sox might not be willing to pay up for him. With the shift ban, a contact hitter might start to have some value. Benintendi can field the outfield way better than Vaughn and Jimenez.

Leftfield is not hard to play but Vaughn and Jimenez make it look like climbing Mount Everest. You can limit the number of potential doubles Vaughn and Jimenez would give up misplaying a ball by bringing in Benintendi.

He is also in the middle of his prime years and can hit right-handed pitchers pretty well.
