1. The 2023 NFL Draft just became far more interesting to the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions

Next year, the Bears will have a first-round pick to work with. And, while some pundits would have liked us to think that just a month ago, drafting someone like CJ Stroud or Bryce Young would be in the realm of possibilities, Justin Fields has put those hilarious takes to bed.

No, the Bears will not be drafting a quarterback. Let’s stop that idiocy right away. But, the Bears will be in an excellent position if they continue trending this way.

At the moment, the Bears are slated to have the no. 6 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Funny enough, the Lions currently own a pair of top-11 picks. However, the Bears’ pick is still in front of both Lions picks. At the moment, the Lions own pick no. 8 from the Los Angeles Rams and their own pick at no. 11.

Make no mistake about it, the Lions will want to get in on this quarterback class. Detroit will want to come away with Stroud or Young, no doubt. Even guys like Will Levis and Anthony Richardson could be in play, depending on how the draft falls. And, for the sake of the Bears, the Lions could now be in position where they’re forced to make a deal within the division.

If the draft started tonight, the Lions may just need to package their first rounders to move up in Chicago’s spot if they wanted to draft a quarterback. That would give the Bears two first-round picks in this draft class. Think of the possibilities, here, now that this team has their franchise quarterback figured out.
