Chicago Cubs: 3 wild and risky trade packages for Shohei Ohtani
The Chicago Cubs might need to part with their number one prospect for Ohtani.
The Chicago Cubs might need to make a big move if they’re to land Shohei Ohtani in a trade. It could cost some MLB talent and it could cost some big-time draft capital. For a player like that, it would be worth it in every way. He is a less than once-in-a-lifetime type of talent.
Nick Madrigal is the MLB-ready player that goes in this trade. He was acquired by the Cubs in a trade with the Chicago White Sox that sent Craig Kimbrel the other way.
His 2022 season with the Cubs was up and down but he is a solid player that can play second base. If the Cubs sign a big shortstop and move Madrigal, Hoerner can move to second base.
Pete Crow-Armstrong is the Cubs’ number-one prospect. He was the player that came back to the Cubs in the Javier Baez trade with the New York Mets. This kid has developed into one of the best young players in the world. Los Angeles would certainly be into adding him if they had to move Ohtani.
Miguel Amaya is a cacher that might be ready for the big leagues soon and Ryan Jensen is a right-handed pitcher that could make his MLB presence known soon. Each of them has a lesser chance to become an impact player as they are wild card prospects but the Angels need risks like that.
