Trade Number 3: The Chicago Bears part with a big name of their own in a DJ Moore deal

Lastly, the Bears could get even more creative in their efforts to land Moore.

One of the biggest offseason stories for the Bears came when All Pro linebacker Roquan Smith decided to hold-in and ask for a new contract. When presented with an offer, Smith declined and thought it was a disrespectful deal. After negotiations went on a little while, Smith opted to play this season and bet on himself.

With all things considered, the probability of bringing Smith back next season is very low. He’s been up and down this year, and will likely be allowed to sign elsewhere if another team wants to overpay.

Or, the Bears could include their young linebacker in a trade for Moore. In this deal, the Panthers get their stud linebacker of the future along with a second, fourth and seventh-round pick — two of those selections coming in 2023.

The Bears, meanwhile, also snag a third-round pick in the 2023 draft along with Moore. That’s a win.

The Bears no longer have to think about contract negotiations with Smith, and it seemed like Poles wasn’t going to bring him back anyways. Poles gave him the price tag, and Smith shook his head. Now, both sides move on and the Bears come away with a legitimate number one wide receiver, all while keeping their first-round picks.
