Trade Number 1: The Chicago Bears deal an offensive lineman in a trade for DJ Moore

Over this past offseason, the Bears and offensive lineman Teven Jenkins saw themselves in plenty of mixed headlines. It was unclear whether or not this new regime was going to ride with Jenkins, or if there was some type of distrust between the two sides.

Ultimately, the former second-round pick was thrust into trade rumors during training camp, after not being present for the first few days of practices. It ended up being just a minor injury thing for Jenkins, and nothing imminent came from those trade rumors. But now, if there is an opportunity for the Bears to land a big name wide receiver, Poles might jump at the chance to trade a guy like Jenkins and go find himself his own linemen in next year’s draft.

In this trade, the Bears give up Jenkins and a pair of second-round picks. The Panthers obviously get a young, tenacious offensive lineman they can plug in at one of multiple positions. But, a couple of second rounders will also help this team get some additional young talent in the future.

For the Bears, this is a big win because they don’t end up having to part with a first-round pick. While Moore has been a very good receiver through his first four years, he also hasn’t warranted the type of capital a Stefon Diggs garnered in that trade.

Although, the Bears could face some stiff competition for Moore’s services, and thus could have to give up a lot more.
