2. Joe Girardi

The White Sox should look the other way when it comes to hiring Joe Girardi.

After a successful 10-season run with the New York Yankees as their manager from 2008 through the 2017 season, Joe Girardi took some time off before returning to the manager’s chair with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2020.

Girardi’s run with the Phillies was nothing more than a disappointment as the team missed the postseason in his first two seasons and Girardi was fired two months into his third season with the team.

Girardi recently returned to Chicago as he is currently serving as a television contributor for the Chicago Cubs on the Marquee Sports Network. In doing that job, he might have found a new calling.

There is no question that Girardi was one of Major League Baseball’s winningest managers during his tenure with the Yankees. But, the allure of Girardi has seemingly worn off after his Phillies’ run.

Girardi was hired by the Phillies to be the manager who brings them from being postseason hopefuls to a legitimate World Series contender. That transition never occurred for him or the club.

Bullpen mismanagement was an issue that led to Girardi’s downfall with the Phillies. Bullpen mismanagement is an issue that the White Sox has to address this offseason. Girardi would not be a solution to that problem.
