The Chicago Bears could strongly consider adding someone like Lamar Jackson.

Honestly, no matter what happens, it is hard to see Justin Fields ever live up to being as good as Lamar Jackson who is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He and the Baltimore Ravens have had a hard time agreeing on a contract extension which has led to speculation about his future.

If the Ravens don’t offer him the guaranteed money that he feels that he deserves, it might become a situation where he asks for a trade. That could lead to his departure from Baltimore if it doesn’t go smoothly. For one of the most important players in the league, that could change everything.

The Bears don’t know for sure if Justin Fields is the guy. He may or may not be but all signs are pointing to him not being a franchise quarterback at this time. If he continues to struggle, the Bears might take drastic measures. Trading for Lamar would be drastic measures.

A trade between these two teams would be a blockbuster. Maybe Roquan Smith could be a guy that goes the other way as the Ravens might have more success trying to sign him. Like the Bears, they have also had success with linebackers throughout their history as a franchise.

At this point, the hope should be that Fields becomes a superstar. However, in the event that he becomes a bust, the Bears need to be ready for it and these are some good options for that.
