The Chicago Bears might consider bringing in the local kid to play in 2023.

If Justin Fields doesn’t work out, everything should be on the table. Jimmy Garoppollo isn’t as talented as a lot of these guys but he knows how to win football games. In his career in the NFL split between the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers, he is 33-15-0.

He won the Super Bowl twice as Tom Brady’s backup in New England and then made it to the Super Bowl a few years later with the 49ers. They were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs but Jimmy G proved that you can win with him as your starter.

In 2021-22, he made it to the NFC Championship yet again proving that he just finds ways to win. The Chicago Bears could really use a guy like that if Fields doesn’t work out. Every method they try to take hasn’t worked out well for them so adding a proven winner might be worth trying.

It also helps that Jimmy G is a local kid that would love to play close to home. He grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois which is where the new stadium is going to go. He attended Rolling Meadows High School and attended Eastern Illinois University.

San Francisco really might commit to moving off him and into Tre Lance once Lance returns from injury so this could be an option for Chicago. If they do go that route, he is someone to consider if Fields proves he isn’t the guy.
