The Chicago Blackhawks could use Patrick Kane to add more defense prospects.

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to have a bunch of different options when it comes to the potential to trade Patrick Kane. They can target a position, a certain round in the draft, prospects, NHL-ready players, or anything in between.

It might be smart to go for some help on the blue line in terms of prospects. We saw during the dynasty years how important it is to develop a blue line. We saw it with guys like Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, and Niklas Hjalmarsson amongst others on the Hawks.

We also saw it on some of their common playoff opponents like Ryan Suter, Drew Doughty, Shea Weber, and Alex Pietrangelo. Building a group with guys like that is incredibly important. That is why this trade package makes sense.

Kaiden Guhle was a first-round pick by Montreal in the 2020 NHL Draft. He is a young defenseman that has the potential to be really good in the NHL. As for Mattias Norlinder, he is a former third-round pick from the 2019 NHL Draft that can become a solid NHL player if given the chance.

The first-round pick coming back to the Hawks in this trade is paramount as they are going to be looking for at least one in any Kane trade. If the Hawks are going to make a move like this, Montreal could be a team that has a lot to offer. It would depend on how they see themselves.
