3. Cole Kmet’s effort has to improve against Houston

In addition to Mooney being a no-show to start the season, the same can be said for tight end Cole Kmet. This year was supposed to be Kmet’s big breakout season, but through two games, he’s been goosed.

Now, part of that has been due to a drop and the other part due to the offense sputtering. But, another aspect is on Kmet himself to get open and work with Fields.

The passing game is one thing, but the other part of Kmet’s season so far has been the poor effort in blocking. Sunday night, he was atrocious in that department. The effort was almost non-existent.

There have been a couple of runs this year, which would have gone for more had Kmet been engaged in his block. If he wants to get targets, he’ll have to put forth an effort worth targeting — but that doesn’t just mean in the passing game.

The Bears’ offense, as a whole, has to step up. The offensive line needs to be better. Everyone needs to be better. But, if Chicago can get great performances out of these three, then they’ll have a strong chance of putting up an admirable point total.
