Luke Getsy deserves a lot of blame for the Chicago Bears’ loss to Green Bay

Bears fans and media will be all over the play calls in this game, but I don’t believe anyone has the right or wrong opinion in regards to that department. After David Montgomery began the game on fire, running all over the Packers defense on the first drive, he received only one touch before halftime on the following three drives.

In the second half, Montgomery got going again and Bears fans saw Luke Getsy stick with what was working. But, it seemed too little too late. Had Getsy stuck with the run game, and Montgomery, maybe the Bears would have kept it closer in the end.

On the other hand, people will complain that Fields only had 11 passing attempts — but that came largely due to many three-and-outs. Getsy’s biggest issue in this one was not sticking with Montgomery, which was working. As a whole, the offense sputtered.

Of course, the most controversial call of the game was due to a call by Getsy that had Bears fans highly confused. On that fourth and inches, he called a quarterback draw from shotgun formation. With the ball just inches away from the goal line, why back your quarterback up five yards out? A simple quarterback sneak, under center, would have had a much higher likelihood of success.

Instead, the play ended up in the hands of the officials, and in a Bears vs. Packers game, we know how that typically ends.

Getsy is going to be upset with himself after this one, watching the film and seeing that he went away from what worked. Not only that, but he’ll realize he made the boneheaded call at the end.
