To make up for a lackluster offensive haul in the 2022 draft, Poles goes right back to adding playmakers in the second round by snagging TCU standout wide receiver Quentin Johnston.

Johnston will instantly bring an outside threat to the Bears’ offense. He stands a towering 6-foot-4 and comes to the NFL as a multi-sport athlete. Not only is Johnston an elite football player, but he has also previously starred in track and basketball. The kid is a natural athlete.

In an offense where Fields will love throwing the deep ball, Johnston will give his quarterback that big-bodied, outside target needed to make the tough catches. Over his first two years at TCU, Johnston has averaged 20.4 yards per reception, proving he is full of big play potential.

It is often a rarity to find a bigger body at wide receiver who moves as well as Johnston does. To be able to move quickly in and out of breaks, but also threaten as a long-line speed guy is not found every day. But, that’s exactly what Johnston will give the Bears. He’s able to beat guys deep down the sideline, but also run the quicker, shorter-cutting routes with ease.

With Mooney, Jones, Smith-Njigba and Johnston, the Bears now have one of the most talented overall receiving rooms in all of football.
