Brayden Schenn is a very respected Chicago Blackhawks division rival.

The St. Louis Blues are one of the better teams in the Central Division year in and year out. They won the Stanley Cup as recently as 2019 and could be on the lookout for another real soon. However, they might be hindered by Brayden Schenn’s contract really soon.

Schenn makes 6.5 million dollars at 31 years old for six more seasons which is not going to age well. He is a solid secondary scorer on a good team right now but that contract is not going to age well at all. That is a long time to have a guy making that much going into his mid-30s.

He might be worth that money for another year or two but it won’t be long before they are trying to move him. In 2021-22, Schenn had 24 goals and 34 assists for 58 points in 62 games. That means he was just under a point per game which is okay but he missed 20 games.

The Blues are already an aging team as it is so they might need to win their Cup soon before they need to retool their roster. Schenn might be a reason for that one day and that is why it is one of the worst contracts in the division. Hopefully, he finds a way to keep producing and stays healthy.
