The Chicago Cubs might need to give up a huge haul for Shohei Ohtani.

The Chicago Cubs might need to give up a lot to land Shohei Ohtani. If they were to make a deal like this, they would have to be sure that they are getting him resigned. It is a lot but getting an ace and an elite hitter all in one for multiple years might be worth this type of price.

The first trade would be for a one-year rental type of thing. However, as mentioned before, this trade would need to be included with the confidence that he will stay with the club for a very long time.

this is the type of deal that includes three good prospects and two good MLB players. The MLB players are Nico Hoerner and Ian Happ. They are both players capable of being All-Stars in the league and are young enough to help the Angels rebuild.

Pete Crow-Armstrong and Brennen Davis as the team’s top two prospects in the system. Kohl Franklin is their number 29 guy but he could still turn into a pretty good pitcher one day if he keeps working on his craft.

With a deal like this, the Angels would certainly no longer have the worst farm in the league. The Cubs would also be only losing Happ and Hoerner from their Major League roster. Ohtani’s brilliance would certainly replace that production in one way or another.

Every team in the league should be in on Ohtani if the Angels do actually trade him. The Cubs could present one of these packages or one like them depending on the contract situation and how the Angels view it. Even if it feels unlikely, it is fun for all fans to think about for their teams.
