The Chicago Bears could sign Marquez Callaway if he is cut

Second up, the Bears should be paying attention to what is happening with the New Orleans Saints’ wide receivers. This offseason was a busy one for that position group in New Orleans. The Saints signed free agent Jarvis Landry, who has had a phenomenal training camp. They also drafted Chris Olave, out of Ohio State, in the first round.

Not only that, but Michael Thomas is healthy and ready to contribute once again. Those three are locked in as the top trio for the Saints. Beyond that trio, the fourth and fifth options seem to be locked in as well, for different reasons.

It wasn’t that long ago that Marquez Callaway went from an undrafted kid to finding significant playing time. Last year, Callaway caught 46 passes for 698 yards and six scores. It is pretty tough to see a guy like that get buried on the depth chart the next year, but this is the reality we’re living in.

Callaway is a burner, and he can get down field in a hurry. He would be yet another speedy weapon for Fields to throw the deep ball to, but also someone that Luke Getsy could get the ball to in more creative ways.

There is a very realistic possibility that Callaway is traded, but if he’s not, then he could be released during the final series of cuts.
