The Chicago Bears could sign Preston Williams if he is cut

About a week and a half ago, there were reports of the Miami Dolphins potentially engaging in trade talks centered around a couple of their wide receivers, Preston Williams and Lynn Bowden Jr.

Williams, a 6-foot-5 outside receiver, wants his role to increase. If not, rumor has it that he would like out of Miami. So, the Dolphins have likely talked to other teams about a Williams trade. If they haven’t, then maybe a potential cut is on the horizon. Or, even if they have engaged in trade talks, maybe the Dolphins haven’t seen anything come of them.

Miami has their top wideout in Tyreek Hill, who was brought to the Dolphins this offseason via trade. Hill is going to absorb a good chunk of the targets, as will second year pro Jaylen Waddle. Mike Gesicki will also be involved, and the Dolphins figure to run quite a bit, too, under first year head coach Mike McDaniel.

Williams is only 25 years old and has shown an ability to track the deep ball and make some spectacular catches outside the hashes. He would be an instant upgrade as the Bears’ second string wide receiver if they could find a way to land him.

Over 24 career games, Williams has racked up 56 catches for 787 yards and seven touchdowns.
