Jake McCabe would make great trade bait for the Chicago Blackhawks right now.
When the Chicago Blackhawks signed Jack Johnson a little bit ago, it became clear that they might need to move on from one of their other defensemen that make a fair amount of money in order to make room for the young guys to get their ice time.
Jake McCabe is someone that the Chicago Blackhawks brought in from the Buffalo Sabres because he can provide some depth on the blue line. Unfortunately, he had a bad year defensively because of the team he was on.
He did have a career-high in points which is nice but playing on a team like this isn’t good for him. He needs to be on a team that plays well around him because then he can play his game to the potential that he has which is a really nice 4th-6th defenseman.
The Blackhawks have no need for a guy like McCabe anymore. When they brought him in, they thought that they’d be good as a team but that was far from the case.
A team with aspirations of winning the Stanley Cup can send over an asset of some sort and the Blackhawks would be happy with it. It is certainly something to consider as soon as possible.
