1. This Chicago Bears team need to establish an offensive rhythm, then pull starters

With Matt Eberflus telling us that the starters are going to play quite a bit in the preseason, we can all look forward to seeing guys like Justin Fields and Darnell Mooney out there against the Chiefs.

The starters playing a good amount will be significant because that’s one thing we haven’t seen in recent years. Fields not only needs more time for development, but he and the entire offensive side of the ball need time to practice the new scheme in live action.

With a brand-new offense and several new faces across the offensive line and receiving room, time on the field in preseason is crucial. However, Eberflus has to be smart about it.

For example, if the offense comes out right away and surprisingly puts together a nice drive, in rhythm, then maybe he thinks about throwing them out there just one or two more drives before having them take a seat.

We want to see the offense get into a rhythm, at some point, but we also want to see the coaching staff stay smart. Fields and company should get a good amount of reps (say, 15-20 snaps) before possibly being pulled, and hopefully we see them put together at least one competent, smooth-flowing drive.
