The Chicago Bears are in a little bit of trouble right now. It has come out that their star linebacker Roquan Smith has requested a trade. That is less than ideal for a team trying to rebuild.

Chicago has a new regime in charge of the roster and the on-field product. They haven’t even played a preseason game under this new regime and there is already a story like this.

If the Bears can’t get a deal done with him and are forced to give in to his request, they might want him out of the NFC.

If that is the case, there are plenty of AFC teams that would love to add a linebacker like this. These are three AFC trades that could land the Bears a first-round pick for Roquan Smith:

The Chicago Bears and LA Chargers would make good trade partners again.

The Chicago Bears have already made a big trade with the Los Angeles Chargers in the year 2022. Khalil Mack is a member of their team and he went for some draft picks. He didn’t get the haul that the Bears would be expecting for Smith because of contract details and age.

If the Bears traded him to the Chargers, getting a first, second, and good receiver that is on the older side would make a lot of sense. The Chargers would be getting someone great to their already good defense that is trying to supplement a very exciting offense.

Keenan Allen isn’t what he once was but he is a savvy veteran that could help the young receiver room that Chicago has. It would also be good for Justin Fields to add a receiver like that while he is trying to develop.

The first and second-round picks would be for the future of this team as they continue to build from the ground up.
