Trade Number 2: Roquan Smith goes from the Chicago Bears to the Las Vegas Raiders

Next up, we look at the Las Vegas Raiders — a team the Bears are quite familiar with in terms of doing business. Once upon a time, the Bears traded a haul for a guy by the name of Khalil Mack, now gone, of course.

This Raiders team is different, though. They look to be an AFC powerhouse featuring maybe the best wide receiver in the game, Davante Adams, whom they traded for this offseason — much to the delight of Bears fans all over the world.

The Raiders also signed All Pro pass rusher Chandler Jones to pair with Maxx Crosby. Should they bring in Smith to go with those two guys, this defense could look a whole lot better in the span of just one offseason.

In this trade, the Bears would bring home a first rounder, two third-round picks and a sixth rounder. No other players are involved in this deal, but the Bears come away with a total of four picks in exchange for Smith.

Overall, this allows the Bears to completely hit the reset button in 2023, adding three additional picks (the fourth pick would come in the third round of 2024).

The other aspect of a trade like this is that the Bears would open up even more cap space by not having to pay Smith. That’s not necessarily a positive, but it’s worth noting that the Bears have a ton of picks and money to work with next offseason.
