Chicago Bears trade Roquan Smith in one of these 5 deals
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Number 1: Roquan Smith goes from the Chicago Bears to the Dallas Cowboys
The first team that makes sense for Smith is the Dallas Cowboys, who are a team that has plenty of star power, but just haven’t been able to put it all together in recent years. A healthy Dak Prescott is the key ingredient to this Cowboys team having a successful run, and their quarterback is certainly ready to roll into 2022.
The Cowboys defense features two young stars that could be paired up with Smith. First off, you have the exciting, risk-taking cornerback in Trevon Diggs. He’s an interception machine (although does give up his fair share of yardage). But, Diggs is a guy who makes game-changing takeaways.
Second, the Cowboys have the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year in Micah Parsons, who is a versatile linebacker that can do it all. Pairing Parsons with Smith could give the Cowboys the best linebacker duo in all of football — and maybe even trio, including Leighton Vander Esch.
In this trade, the Cowboys give up future first, second and fourth-round picks to Chicago. They also trade rookie linebacker Devin Harper, who came to the Cowboys in the sixth round this year out of Oklahoma State.
Harper finally broke out with O.K. State in his last year with the team and thus earned himself hearing his name called during the 2022 NFL Draft. Harper would come in and try to compete for a spot on the roster, and maybe even a starting gig depending on how this group comes into focus.
