The Bears’ 2022 5th round draft pick has made a name for himself early in camp, and possibly could be a full-time starter in just his rookie season.

1.) Braxton Jones

Braxton Jones has been the talk of training camp and is going to be watched very closely by this new Bears coaching staff this preseason. Jones, a 5th round draft pick out of Southern Utah, has been impressive at camp thus far.

With all of the issues surrounding Tevin Jenkins, the Bears have been giving multiple players reps at the left tackle spot. Currently, Braxton Jones has emerged as the favorite, as he has said to have been very technically sound, and strong at the point of attack.

New acquisition Riley Reiff has also taken reps at left tackle, but he seems to be in competition with Larry Borom for the right tackle spot as well. Veterans often see a lot less snaps than rookies in the preseason, so Jones will have every opportunity to leave his mark.

It’s not every season a 5th round rookie from a small school gets an opportunity to start week one, but Braxton Jones could be one of those guys if he shows out this preseason.
