Chicago Bears practice is completely different under new regime
After both the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox were complete failures at the 2022 MLB Trade Deadline, the Chicago Bears started to have practice in full pads which is getting everyone very excited for the fall. They are not expected to be very good either but there is hope for the future.
After watching a few of their practices, it is clear that things are significantly different right now. The practices they run now are unlike anything we have seen from the Chicago Bears organization. It appears as if a lot of philosophies have changed.
Under this new regime that is led by general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus, the practices appear to be more intense, better structured, and much faster. All of those things line up with what Eberflus promised before camps were underway.
This is outstanding news for the Chicago Bears fanbase. This is a team that has been incredibly pedestrian for a long time. It may take a year or two but it appears as if they are back on track to becoming a contender.
The Chicago Bears are practicing in a very different way with this new regime.
It is probable that they are not going to be a very good team in 2022. The Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions all have better rosters that should be able to keep the Bears in last place. However, it may not stay that way for long.
If the Bears add more talent ahead of the 2023 season, they could really go somewhere. Add some better players to a group that practices like that and you might consider yourself to be a playoff team in the near future.
No matter what happens this year in terms of wins and losses, the most important thing for the Bears this year is the development of Justin Fields. He is trying to become the face of the franchise and an elite quarterback in this league. If he does, the Bears will go places.
He looked good at times during the practice on Tuesday. He had his moments where the throws weren’t perfect but the decision-making was. As the day went on, the throws started to click with his receivers and tight ends.
It is obvious that he will carry his momentum with Darnell Mooney into the 2022 season. The two were great together in 2021 and are looking to score lots of points together this year. By the looks of practice, this will continue.
One other note from the offense that is good news is the fact that Cole Kmet seems to be a primary target for Fields. There was more than one occasion on Tuesday where he was able to find Kmet in a small window for big gains. This needs to happen during the season as well.
This was a very fast-paced practice and it is refreshing to see the Chicago Bears working hard towards something great. Both the offense, defense, and special teams units had a little extra pep in their step. If they create a better roster with this mindset over the years, they will win a lot.
