The Chicago White Sox did absolutely nothing before the deadline
The Chicago White Sox are the better of the two teams in town. They were only .500 before the 2022 MLB Trade Deadline passed but that is still significantly better than the Chicago Cubs or anything they’re doing right now.
The White Sox came into this season with big-time expectations and have failed to meet them up to this point because of injuries, bad management, roster flaws, and struggling players. With all of that, it is somewhat remarkable that they are still very much in the mix.
Going into deadline week, it seemed like a sure thing that they were going to make a few moves to give themselves a chance in the division. The day before the deadline, they sent Reese McGuire to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Jake Diekman.
Diekman is a solid left-handed reliever which is something that the White Sox desperately needed. It felt like that was going to be the move that kicked off a rather busy deadline for them. Unfortunately, that is the last move that they would make.
The Chicago White Sox didn’t do a single thing on deadline day this year.
Much to the dismay of everyone, there were no trades made by the White Sox on the day of the deadline. It is not amazing news at all as they aren’t a better team than they were before the deadline outside of one extra reliever.
However, Luis Robert has been activated and will come back soon. The whole squad should be healthy at that point which is really going to be exciting to watch. They are talented enough to win a lot but they need to go out there and be at their best.
Their first game after the deadline went really well. They defeated the Kansas City Royals by a final score of 9-2. Lucas Giolito started and along with the bullpen pitchers used, they pitched very well. When the pitching gives you a great chance to win, you often will.
The offense exploded which really made things go well for them. Everyone did what they needed to do and that is why they score nine runs. This is a talented group that needs to come together and score runs like this often. If they do, and they get that level of pitching, their lack of movement at the deadline won’t matter much.
