The Atlanta Falcons should trade for Chicago Bears tackle Teven Jenkins
Although the Atlanta Falcons won’t be competitive for a couple of years, they are a team that could certainly use a potential cornerstone to their offensive line. And, what better team to trade for Jenkins than a team featuring the guy who originally traded up to draft him?
In case you’ve been living under a rock for a few months, former general manager Ryan Pace now works in the Falcons’ front office.
All Pace has done, since coming to the Falcons, is try to recreate the Bears’ roster in Atlanta. Pace even signed Eddie Goldman, when Pace had to know he was no where near a sure thing to ever play again, and Goldman retired just days after signing with the Falcons.
Because Jenkins is still young and raw, he’s worth taking a shot on, especially if the guy who drafted him can help make an impact early on in his career. The Falcons are amidst a bridge quarterback situation with Marcus Mariota, and he could end up being replaced as early as this season by rookie Desmond Ridder.
Or, Mariota may experience a bit of a career resurgence. Either way, the Falcons need to add to their offensive line. It was one of the worst overall units a year ago, and if Pace once believed in Jenkins, then maybe he’s the guy to pull the trigger on a trade.
