After missing the first few practices of Chicago Bears training camp, the truth finally came out about second-year pro and potential starting tackle Teven Jenkins.

Earlier in the spring, Jenkins was demoted to the second team by the new coaching staff. Since then, it seems to have created a downward mental spiral for Jenkins.

Now, the Bears are publicly taking phone calls on a trade for Jenkins. No one knows whether Jenkins had been sitting out camp strictly due to this mental issue and potential trade, or if there was a legitimate injury involved. But, the point is now, Jenkins’ days in Chicago are numbered.

If the Bears were to get a deal done right now, that’s best-case scenario for the team overall. Letting go of a distraction like this would be a positive for the new regime and a team that’s rebuilding.

After just one season with the Chicago Bears, tackle Teven Jenkins appears to be on his way out via trade.

New general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus have stayed consistent in their approach during their first offseason with the team. They are demanding 100 percent from every single player, and are willing to play anybody at any position regardless of draft status or how much that player is getting paid.

Now, with a potential trade of Jenkins on the horizon, Poles will be making his message clear yet again: the best players will play, no matter what. If Jenkins’ mental space is off, and he’s lacking maturity, then he won’t play.

Fortunately, Jenkins is a recent second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was known as a mauler coming out of Oklahoma State. His on-field mentality is nasty, from what we know. Plenty of teams might like to take a shot on his potential, as Ian Rapoport stated above.

But, which teams should make the call and get a deal done? There are five teams, in particular, that make a lot of sense for the Bears as a trade partner.
