3. Matt Eberflus is not messing around in the least bit

Lastly, in just a week of practice, you can tell that Matt Eberflus is a much different coach than what the Bears have been used to in recent years. First and foremost, he is staying true to his promise: this is a man all about discipline.

Multiple players have stated to the media that they’ve noticed a difference in how this coaching staff holds players accountable and holds everyone to the same expectations daily. Eberflus promised us these guys would get their track shoes on, and he has gotten after them so far. This is a man who demands 100 percent, in every drill, on every snap, and he will hold his guys to it.

Not only that, but Eberflus has shown willingness to play any player at all positions within reason, no matter their draft status or paycheck. One day this past week, he started four rookies with the first team offensive line. Eberflus is going to get the absolute best 11 football players on the field at any given moment, and in every phase of the game.

One big example of Eberflus’ willingness to experiment and get creative is the fact that he’s played rookie defensive back Kyler Gordon both outside and inside, noting that he knew Gordon would be a “flex player.”

This is truly a new era of Bears football. Though they might not be destined for a Super Bowl, or even a playoff berth this year, Eberflus is ensuring that he gets every ounce of effort from these players and is going to put the best athletes on the field, no matter what — and fans have to be excited about that.
