NFL training camps are in full swing, and the Chicago Bears have begun the hard work towards improving upon last year, but now under completely new leadership.

Through just a handful of practices, we have learned quite a bit. Even though we’re not yet in full pads, a lot of the little things have stuck out. Sure, some of them aren’t quite so appealing to read about.

If anyone asks about the offensive line, the short answer is: not great. Bob. The long answer is: this might be a rough unit to watch as it could feature a lot of younger guys finding their footing. Already, we have seen a mysterious issue with second-year pro Teven Jenkins. In addition, starting center Lucas Patrick is now out for an undetermined length of time due to a hand injury.

While the offensive line is still an issue, there’s also the question of when Roquan Smith will get paid. Hopefully, that comes soon. But, aside from some of the negatives, this Bears team has shown plenty to be excited about.

Through one week of training camp, the Chicago Bears have given fans a good amount of positive takeaways.

One of the main positives, thus far, actually comes up front across the offensive line. The first week has been more of a ramp-up for veterans Riley Reiff and Michael Schofield, whom the Bears signed right before camp began.

Both Reiff and Schofield are experienced starting offensive linemen and will likely end up starting on this Bears team. That, for one, is a positive. This group needs some veteran leadership, especially if Patrick is going to be out a little while.

Another key positive has been the fact that rookies Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker have been described as ball magnets. Brisker has even gone on record stating that he wants to be the ball hawk of this defense, which is something the group would welcome in a mighty way.

Other than those few nuggets, there have been three main reasons to be happy with the Bears through one week of camp.
