The Cubs might demand a team’s number one prospect for Willson Contreras.

The Chicago Cubs don’t have the best farm of all time. In fact, it is one of the lowest ranked in the league. However, Colson Montgomery is amazing and will be a very good player in Major League Baseball one day. He was a first-round pick in 2021 and should make it.

He is also the only top-100 prospect that the White Sox have in their system right now. If the Cubs want a guy like that for Willson Contreras, then Montgomery might be the only way that the White Sox could get it done. He would be a great infielder for whoever lands him if he was moved.

Norge Vera and Romy Gonzalez are both top-seven White Sox prospects as well s they could become great one day too. As for Micker Adolfo, he was brilliant in spring training but he didn’t make the team. He somehow cleared waivers and remained in the White Sox organization. It would be nice to see him make it to the show one day.

The White Sox acquiring Willson Contreras is highly unlikely due to their own catching situation but you never know what happens in this crazy league. These two teams have made a few trades over the last few years and more (for Contreras or not) could be on the way.
