The Chicago Bears could trade their running back in order to get some assets.

They say that running backs are a dime of dozen and they don’t last at an elite level for as long as some other positions in the league. If the Bears subscribe t that philosophy, they should think about trading David Montgomery away. There are a lot of teams that would want him.

Montgomery is an outstanding running back. The Bears would be a significantly worse team without him as he has the potential to be a 1000-yard back consistently. Unfortunately, he doesn’t really fit the timeline of the Chicago Bears as they rebuild their roster.

They also have a few other guys there to use until they find the next amazing running back to follow in his footsteps. There are some elite teams out there that would love to add a running back like him. Playing on this bad offense is something that doesn’t sound fun.

The Bears trading any of these guys may or may not happen but it is interesting to think about how it could work for them. This team needs to keep building so keeping players who won’t help in the long term makes no sense. Getting as much value as possible, however, does make sense.
