The Chicago Blackhawks are rebuilding and they are hiding that fact from absolutely nobody. They are also not apologizing for it as they feel that it is the best thing in the interest of the organization going forward. You have to respect it if anything.

They traded away players like Alex DeBrincat and Kirby Dach in the hopes that they can become good NHL players after a few years of very good development in their system. We have seen this type of business model work for a lot of teams in the past.

Unfortunately, not everyone seems to be on board. Jonathan Toews has been one of the greatest captains in NHL history in his career. With the “C” on his chest, the team has won the Stanley Cup three times which is more than most captains will ever say.

In a recent interview though, he said that the rebuild doesn’t sound at all appealing to him. That is fair to assume because nobody likes constant losing. However, his tone suggests that he has no interest in helping them along the way.

Jonathan Toews seems to have no interest in the Chicago Blackhawks rebuild.

It is a shame to know that he isn’t all in on helping this team do what it needs to do in order to rebuild. Yeah, not a lot of players want to sit through a rebuild but this should be different for Toews. He isn’t that productive of a player anymore and he makes a lot of money still.

He should be happy that the team was loyal to him and rewarded him for his loyalty back to them. Now, he just comes off as a bit whiny about the whole situation. If he doesn’t like the rebuild, he can be on the next plane out of town when his contract ends.

Patrick Kane is still a player that can produce offense at a high level and he seems to be down with the rebuild if he is there. He has stated many times that he wants to be with this team for his whole career. That is more captain-like than anything Toews has said in a long time.

Regardless of what happens, it is on Kyle Davidson to get the most out of this rebuild so that they can start contending again. They should probably try to get assets for both Toews and Kane if they can but it would be nice to hear about them embracing the team while they are still there.
