Landing Juan Soto would be a tall task for the Chicago Cubs or any MLB team.

If the Washington Nationals were to say that enough is enough and keep Soto for another year, all of this will be for not but that is highly unlikely. He rejected a massive contract offer that would make him one of the richest people in all of sports.

It is clearly not all about money because he could have had that amount two times over. It seems to be about winning as he has already done in his career when the Nationals won the World Series in 2019. He was one of the best players on that journey. It sounds like he wants to get back to that.

Nothing listed here is a lock to be enough for Soto but you never know what they bite on. Brennan Davis, Kevin Alcantara, and DJ Herz are all top-10 prospects in the Chicago Cubs organization. Losing them would be tough but adding Soto would be so special.

Trading Nico Hoerner would be a travesty but he would certainly help sweeten this pot if Washington ever considered it. As good as he is, he brings nothing close to what Juan Soto can bring to a baseball diamond on a daily basis.

If Washington is looking for a whole lot more than that in a Juan Soto trade, they might not get it. He is highly sought after by the big-boy teams right now but it doesn’t sound like the Nationals are going to lose him for just nothing either.
