The Chicago Cubs could be looking for a prospect haul for Willson Contreras.

The Chicago Cubs might be looking to get prospects if they are going to trade Willson Contreras. It would be nice to land a pitcher like Tyler Glasnow but prospects might be the more realistic option for them in a deal with the Rays who desperately need a star catcher.

The Rays traded for Nelson Cruz last year so they are not against going out and getting something that they need, despite what narratives seem to surround them. They are also amongst the best at developing their farm system so some guys are expendable.

Seth Johnson is a right-handed pitcher that is currently ranked as their sixth-best prospect. He is currently in high-A ball so his arrival to the MLB if he makes it is still a few years away. The Cubs need players just like that as they restock their system.

As for Blake Hunt, he is their top catching prospect who is currently listed as their number 18 guy. He will be in the Minors for a few more years but he could be someone who replaces Willson Contreras in the long term (as long as he continues to develop well). This is certainly a trade to think about for both sides.
