The Chicago Cubs are looking to make their organization stronger in the long term. The New York Yankees are looking to win the World Series this year, the year after, and the year after that. A trade like this is made between two such teams.

Ian Happ will be just another really good bat in their lineup in addition to another player that can play in the outfield. We know that Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are the two big boys locked to be in the lineup and specifically in the outfield. Ian Happ would look really good in centerfield between them.

Even if one of them is the designated hitter, Happ fits in well as an outfielder who can really hit. The Cubs know how good he is which means they might be able to get a really nice return for him this year.

Everson Pereira is New York’s number ten prospect and Luis Medina is their number eleven prospect. Pereira is an outfielder and Medina is a right-handed pitcher. Each of them is in AA ball trying to make their way to Major League Baseball.

If the Cubs can pull off a trade like this with any team (for similar prospects), they will be in good shape going into the offseason. It isn’t as fun to be a seller as it is to be a buyer but if they are smart, they could be buyers much quicker.
