The Chicago Cubs are one of the worst teams in the National League. The New York Yankees are one of the best teams in the American League. As a result, they are excellent trade partners before the 2022 MLB Trade Deadline.

Thre are a few players that the Cubs could be selling off before the deadline. Ian Happ is someone whose name is out there and he fits what the New York Yankees are trying to do. They could legitimately win the World Series so they will be stocking up on extra depth.

If New York decided that Happ was someone that they really did want to trade for, these are three trades that could get the deal done:

Ian Happ could land the Chicago Cubs some really nice pitching prospects.

The Chicago Cubs could use some good prospects in their system. They already have a nice farm but they want to add as much as possible. It will be a while before a lot of these kids make it to the league. There is also risk associated with them. That’s why it’s smart to get as many as you can.

Yoendrys Gomez is New York’s number eight prospect. He is a right-handed pitcher that is currently playing in High-A ball. He should be able to make his MLB debut sometime during the 2023 season but that remains t be seen.

Brock Selvidge is their 14th overall prospect. He is a left-handed pitcher that might be able to make it to the show around 2025 if he ever does. With the right development, he might be able to achieve his dream at some point. Good left-handed pitchers are hard to come by so having him as the second piece in this trade might be worth it with a prospect like Gomez.
