Will the Chicago Bears rookies show up early or endure some growing pains?

Once Bears fans got over the shock of the team not selecting an offensive lineman or wide receiver in the second round, it was very easy to love the picks. Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker should end up being excellent pros based on their collegiate résumé’s.

Over their careers at Washington and Penn State, Gordon and Brisker combined to give up just one touchdown as a duo — one. That is as impressive a number as any recently-drafted defensive back. Forget the fact that it includes two players. Even giving up just one touchdown as a highly-touted defensive back would be a heck of a number.

As good as they could end up being, they are rookies. There is a chance they both come in and light it up in camp. But, there’s also a strong likelihood that one, or both of them, will endure some rookie growing pains.

What we will want to see, as fans, is both of them making significant plays in camp and doing it early. They’re talented enough players, but seeing them come on and establish their voice and their playmaking abilities will give fans even more faith in them starting the season and holding their own.
