Will the Chicago Bears offensive line be able to protect Justin Fields?

As a rookie, Justin Fields was one of the most sacked quarterbacks last season. In 12 games (10 starts), Fields was sacked a whopping 36 times. There were a bunch of stats thrown out over the course of the season via outlets like Pro Football Reference and Football Outsiders that showed he had very little time to throw.

Beyond any numbers or figures, Bears fans saw Fields running for his life more often than not. So, the confusion around Poles not going out and making a smash signing or draft pick to add protection up front is legitimate.

Now, just as Poles did with wide receiver, he added a lot of players to the mix in order to create competition. Though none were top-tier players, Poles drafted four offensive linemen and signed a sure fire starter in Lucas Patrick.

But, which players start other than Patrick, Teven Jenkins and Cody Whitehair? Moreover, where does Jenkins play?

There is much uncertainty about how this group will come together and whether or not they’ll be able to protect Fields, and we haven’t even talked about the run game. Thankfully, David Montgomery is one of the better running backs in terms of breaking tackles.

But, as for protecting the quarterback, fans want to see this group jive together and do it quickly during camp.
