4 veteran free agents the Chicago Bears should look at before camp

The Chicago Bears should consider signing Anthony Barr before training camp
There are a whole lot of Minnesota Vikings fans that will laugh at an idea like this, and most would encourage the Bears to sign Anthony Barr. However, it does make sense.
Barr has lost a step. That’s obvious. He is no longer the four-time Pro Bowler and high-caliber player he was. Over the last two seasons, Barr has suited up for just 13 games due to injury, and that’s definitely not encouraging.
But, if he’s healthy, then Barr could challenge for the outside starting job with Adams. And again, nobody knows what the future holds for Adams after that arrest. He very well could be suspended, and that would leave someone like Caleb Johnson starting in his place.
Johnson is a young, intriguing player who could break out this year. But, the Bears may rather depend on a veteran like Barr who has started 98 games over his career. Signing Barr would be a relatively cheap move for the Bears that could pay off big time. On a defense where the Bears should still have a pretty good pass rush, and an improving secondary, there wouldn’t be much pressure on Barr.
Any of these guys would add tremendous value to the Bears at this moment, and with all four still looking for a job, allowing them to prove themselves in training camp is an excellent strategy for a rebuilding team looking for a little more leadership in the locker room.
