4 veteran free agents the Chicago Bears should look at before camp

The Chicago Bears should consider signing Chris Harris before training camp
Chris Harris is towards the end of his career by now, but the 33-year-old still has some value he could add to a team like the Bears. Last year, the Bears’ secondary was amongst the worst groups in the league. And, even though Chicago added two top-tier rookies to this group, there will still be growing pains.
Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon should end up being very good players, but as rookies, you could still see a few moments of struggle here and there — and that’s normal. Adding another veteran like Harris to the group would bring this position just a bit more depth.
Harris is historically a slot corner, and one of the best in the game during his prime years. He is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and even earned All Pro honors back in 2016 with the Denver Broncos.
Over his last two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, Harris’ play has taken a dip. But, as a reserve, Harris could prove valuable in a pinch. The Bears added Tavon Young to be their starting slot cornerback, and have a young, hopefully up-and-coming player in Thomas Graham Jr. behind him. But, Harris could really round out the cornerback group and allow the Bears to cut ties with a player like Duke Shelley.
