The Chicago Cubs could land one Top-100 prospect for Willson Contreras.

The Boston Red Sox could have a big hit coming to their organization this offseason. Xander Bogaerts is one of the best shortstops in Major League Baseball right now. There is a good chance that he decides to opt out of his contract unless they reach a long-term extension.

The Red Sox signed Trevor Story this past offseason who has also been a very good shortstop in his day. However, the Red Sox have been using him as a second baseman while they still have Bogaerts.

If they sign Xander to a long-term deal, these two will be great in the middle infield for a long time. that would also make any of their shortstop/second base prospects expendable. Nick Yorke is someone that the Cubs could land in a one-for-one deal.

With Willson Contreras on the roster, the Red Sox could absolutely beat anyone in a playoff series. It is just dependent on who they are willing to trade for big-name trade targets down the stretch. Yorke is a huge prospect with a lot of potential.

He is a second baseman that the Red Sox landed in the first round (17th overall) in the 2020 MLB Draft. He is now their number three prospect and 46th overall in baseball. Adding a piece like that would be amazing for the Cubs. It will all depend on Contreras’s trade market.
