The Chicago Cubs could get some pretty good prospects for Willson Contreras.

There could be an instance where the Chicago Cubs get some pretty good prospects. One of the lighter potential prospect returns they could get is Boston’s number five and number eight prospect in the system. Both of these guys could make an impact in MLB one day.

The Red Sox might not actually want someone named Jeter ever playing for them. It just doesn’t feel right. Jeter Downs is their number five guy and he can play both second base and shortstop. He could come up to MLB again at any time to see if he is ready.

Brandon Walter is a left-handed pitcher that currently ranks as the number 8 prospect in Boston’s system. He is a really nice player that could make his debut in the big leagues over the next few seasons. He was a very late-round draft pick for the Red Sox who has developed nicely.

This trade would be considered a low-end type of trade as neither of these guys are in MLB’s top 100 prospects but Downs is the first Red Sox prospect outside of it. If Contreras isn’t getting much on the trade market, this could be the type of deal the Cubs get out of it.
